Jemimah’s getting some work done!

We discovered a leak. Uhoh! I was a bit concerned about what we would find in a 40-year-old, somewhat beaten up trailer when we removed the paneling. I was pretty sure that if we ever opened that Pandora’s box, we were going to discover that we had to replace all the beams and insulation. But…it was necessary to remove paneling to find the source of the leak, so down it came…

 

After all the paneling came down, Ken found that there were only 2 2x2’s with rotting ends. He replaced those in a jiffy, and sealed up the leaking spots. Whoohoo! Now we just have to get some insulation replaced and put the new paneling up. Yay!

My fabulously handy husband has also replaced the worst of the paneling in the bathroom, and removed the defunct bathtub. The bathroom is so bright now, and so much more roomy for a woman of generous proportions. I love it! We still have some cosmetics to fix – the old wallpaper needs to be completely removed, and we’re going to prime it and paint it all white – but this is such an improvement already!

We have always used the tub for sleeping bag storage, but now when we’re off camping and the sleeping bags are in their tents, there is nothing taking up MY space in the bathroom! You’ll see that the damaged paneling the worst of the wallpaper are gone, as are the horrid curtain and the moss in the window frame (that you couldn’t see in the before picture).

Jemimah is getting ready for another jaunt – this weekend is the church’s second annual campout. We’re looking forward to it! Oh! And we’re eagerly awaiting a response from a Craigslist seller who might have the very refrigerator we need! I can’t wait to hear from him/her! I would so love to have a working fridge in the trailer!

I’m off to fix brunch, take the crew to the nursing home for a church service, then head off to our own church service. I’ll be back soon with more pictures of Jemimah’s redo, and maybe an update on the refrigerator.

We got to go camping!

Yay! We had to wait two extra weeks, but we finally were able to get out to our favorite spot at Charles Waters Campground.

We had a great time with our crew, Jenny and Phil and their 3 kids, Felice and her 2 girls, and our friend Kriss. I can’t wait to get out and do it again!

She’s got a new travel buddy to hook up with…

It’s almost Labor Day weekend…

She was getting ready! Moving the office to the house, prepping the water tank, stocking supplies…

And then this showed up…

Jemimah, Ken, and I don’t mind the temps or the rain, but most of the kids sleep in tents, and we’re not prepared for tenting nights in the 30’s. We’ve done some of those, and it’s just not as fun as it could be.

I guess she just gets a little more time to get ready.

Jemimah’s getting antsy…

Or is that me? It’s almost time to get out camping, and Jemimah is starting to think about getting out of the driveway and checking out some new territory. She’s been busy this winter though – I have been using Jemimah as an office since October, and it’s been great!

We’re already looking forward to our first trip to Bass Creek. That’s close to home, so if we don’t get everything organized the first trip out we won’t be too far from whatever we need. I’m hoping we can get to some new places this summer, too. Maybe Glacier National Park… or Yellowstone… or just some out of the way campgrounds we haven’t seen before.

One More Jaunt for Jemimah

Just when we thought Jemimah was done traveling for the year, we had an opportunity to spend a weekend in Haugan, Montana. Where is Haugan, you ask? Well, how ‘bout a map?

Our church (Bitterroot Family Fellowship) spent the weekend with New Day Network Ministry in Haugan and St. Regis, Montana. We had food, fellowship, fun, and we threw a bit of work in there too. Most of these photos don’t have Jemimah, but most do have one or another of her inhabitants.

Our lovely Jemimah still needs a bunch of work – some replacement paneling (and who knows what we’ll find when we remove the paneling that’s there), a new refrigerator, a fixed-up (gutted and rebuilt?) bathroom… but she’s cozy and takes good care of her people. For the winter I will use Jemimah as my office – that’s a great option! But I’m already looking forward to getting her ready for next summer’s travels.

Poor Jemimah’s blog has been neglected

I wonder if Jemimah feels the emptiness.

I never did get a chance to tell you about Jemimah’s last trip in July. It was a lot of fun! The church got together for a weekend at the Larry Creek group camp site just north of Stevensville. There weren’t a huge group of us, but those of us that made it had a great time. Wanna see?

Jemimah has had fun this summer!

We haven’t gotten out quite as often as I’d hoped – this summer has been crazy-busy – but Jemimah has had a great time anyway. A couple weeks ago we packed her up and headed off to Salmon Lake (northeast of Missoula, Montana). It was a great trip! This was the first trip that didn’t require a trip back home or to the store for something we forgot. Yay! Success!

Jemimah was a superstar! It was so comfortable to sleep on that bed, and so easy to cook at clean! It was especially easy to clean because I taught the bigger boys how to wash dishes in the trailer kitchen.

 

Oh, I forgot to mention that Jemimah is finally a legal Montana resident. She got her permanent Montana plates right before this trip. The next thing she’s going to get is a whole bunch of new drawer slides. It is quite frustrating to deal with the old, old, old ones she currently has.
